My Dog May Not Like it, but I Don’t Care.

The articles I’ve been seeing lately relating to dogs make me laugh and annoy me. The new trend seems to be telling dog owners what they’re doing to annoy their dogs and why they should stop… Does anyone else kind of find this ridiculous?

Our sweet old man buddy boy

Sure my dogs might not like it when I fake throw their toy, but I don’t enjoy being awoken to big slobbery kisses every morning. Sometimes I like to sleep in! My dogs do not care. My girl Kira also has no problem grabbing a toy and playing keep away from me, running all around the house with her toy, and me chasing her happens to be one of her favorite things! So, If I don’t throw the toy right away, I don’t think she’ll hold it against me.

Just like I live with the fact that when anybody walks by the windows, the dogs combined barking is like fireworks on the fourth of July! That will continue long after the “suspect” has left the area! Nothing I say from then on matters. They don’t care that they are driving the neighbors and me crazy! So guess what?! If I want to dress them up in a cute hat or glasses for a cute picture or put socks on them for the first time and get a few laughs from their “WTF is this” moment, I will.

My Kali Girl

My dogs are all 50lbs plus but guess what?! They all think they are lap dogs. So no matter what I’m doing, I can be in the middle of working with the laptop clearly already on my lap… They will jump up regardless and push everything out of the way to squeeze themselves in and lay down! I am left picking things up, rearranging everything to keep them happy *please, insert eye roll* I make this work because I know they want to be close, So If one day I decide I want a hug, I’m going to hug my dog. Sure, I won’t hug them tightly, but I’m not going to stop hugging my dog. Will I hug them regularly? No, but a hug here and there? I don’t need informed that I shouldn’t do that.

Dogs are astonishingly intelligent animals, so I find it a tad humorous yet annoying that the things we decide to study and write about are whether or not they enjoy being hugged. Or how they’re annoyed when we don’t throw the ball the first time!

My boxer husky mix takes an hour to find the perfect place to… poop. Yes, we will walk around and smell a million things. She will start and then decide, nope, it’s not the right spot, and we will have to start the whole process over again!

The only lady I’ve had the pleasure of raising from a pup! My sweet girl, Kira.

Should dogs have to deal with us? Well, we deal with them, and personally I think that should be a study! The things they do despite knowing we don’t like them! My dogs know I can’t always play or rub their bellies when they want, but I have a dog that will bark at me, talk to me, make howl like noises because I tell her right now is not a good time! She is practically demanding my attention! I will even turn my chair at my desk, so I can not see her and pretend not to hear her… So she will go underneath the desk and stick her big head in between my legs and look up at me like, how well did that work out for you? Usually, this ends in me giving in and having a quick game of fetch or tug of war.

My dogs are amazing and intelligent creatures whom I love dearly but are also quite annoying at times. So we will happily love and annoy each other from time to time. I think we will all survive.

My name is Destiny! I’m happily married with three beautiful kids, whom I home-school. I also care for over 20 pets, all while running a freelance animal and pet writing business. I believe each day is a chance to be and do better than the last. I also believe in melt-downs, crying in your closet while eating the chocolate you hid from your kids… while the dogs sniff from the outside, letting everyone know where you are!

So, If you are crazy in love with your life, but you realize nothing can be perfect and want to grab some chocolate and chips and follow this beautiful mess, and see where it ends up? Please do!
